‘Cobra Kai’ Season 4: Renewal, Release Date, Plot, and New Cast Additions

Who would’ve thought that the doors of the Cobra Kai dojos are always open to more students? Not only are they back in business, but they’re also adding new faces to the bunch! If you’ve been watching closely, they’re going to need all the manpower they need to take on Kreese.

What is Cobra Kai all about?

Set 34 years after what was the classic 1984 film The Karate KidCobra Kai follows the story of both Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (played by William Zabka), his karate rival and former bully. Enraged with fire (and a little bit of pettiness), both men start rival dojos to teach teenagers their different styles of karate. The dojos are named after very iconic pieces of the original story: LaRusso’s dojo is named after his master, Mr. Miyagi, while Lawrence’s dojo is named after the form he mastered, Cobra Kai.

Of course, knowing that both karate masters are rivals––their students are inherently against each other and so, competition arises. The newest season, however, finds LaRusso and Lawrence in an unmanageable alliance as they work together to take down Cobra Kai after a series of events that leads to the dojo eventual fall into different hands and turns rogue.

Has Cobra Kai been renewed for Season 4?

Why yes, yes it has been! Netflix has announced that production on the next season of the popular action-fiction series has finally started through their official @NXOnNetflix Twitter account. In fact, they even teased the top page of the script that read the first episode of the fourth season titled “Let’s Begin”––and so we shall, Netflix. The first episode is written by the co-creators of the series Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.

Who is attached to Season 4 of Cobra Kai?

Oops! We spoiled you a little bit there, didn’t we? The renewal isn’t the only thing Netflix surprised us with, but they also gave us some new faces to look forwards to for the next season! As it turns out, Peyton List (Tory Nichols) and Vanessa Rubio (Miguel’s mother Carmen Diaz) have both been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season––making both actresses have a much larger role this time, meaning more stories to tell. A quick congratulations to both talented actresses and godspeed for another amazing run at the series!

Also joining the series as recurring characters are Dallas Dupree Young and Oona O’Brien! It has been reported that Young will be playing Kenny, a new kid on the block who turns to karate to defend himself against the bullies in his school. Bullying in this series is no surprise––that or pouncing on the weak. O’Brien, on the other hand, will be playing as Devon, another new karate student who is competitive in nature and it looks as if “competitive” isn’t enough to justify his devotion to winning. Alongside that, he’s also a quick learner––but is also equally quick to piss off.

The balance between these characters is amazing and I’m sure you can’t wait to see all of them in action!

When will Season 4 of Cobra Kai premiere?

You know Netflix. They like teasing us little by little with renewals, releases, and release dates. Nothing new here for Cobra Kai as there is still no news about when the fourth season of the series will premiere. However, the third season is currently streaming and I advise you to watch it. If you’re finished and you want even more Cobra Kai content, there’s also a video game available to play on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
