‘Enola Holmes 2: The Case of the Left-Handed Lady’ is the Most Anticipated Netflix Movie of 2022

Fans are excited for more Enola following the release of the first film in fall 2020. Thankfully, a sequel is currently in the works and could be released in 2022.

And the family has returned!

Millie Bobby Brown will reprise her role as Enola, and Henry Cavill and Louis Partridge are also expected to return.

Following the release of Enola Holmes last year, Netflix was sued by the estate of Arthur Conan Doyle for its portrayal of Sherlock; according to the estate, Holmes is portrayed as too emotional and warm, and when combined with this respect for women, the sum of those traits was apparently tantamount to copyright infringement (via The Guardian).

Harry Bradbeer, who directed the original film, will direct the sequel, which will be based on a script by returning screenwriter Jack Thorne. Later this year, filming is set to commence in London.

The Origin of Enola

Enola Holmes is based on Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes Mysteries series of books. It followed Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, as she established her own profession as a private investigator, focusing on solving missing people cases while dodging her elder brothers who wanted to send her back to her boarding school.

The second film will most likely be based on “The Case of the Left-Handed Lady,” the second book in the Enola Holmes series.
