First Look on Netflix’s Pre-K Exhibit, ‘Ridley Jones’

In July, Netflix will release a new preschool series that focuses on diversity and teaching youngsters to appreciate people’s diversity, find common ground, and respect others. Ridley Jones follows 6-year-old Ridley, who lives with her mother and grandmother in a treehouse inside a museum, where the displays come alive at night (it’s like Night at the Museum!). The animated series will have LGBTQ+ characters — Fred the nonbinary bison, the first nonbinary character to appear in one of Netflix’s preschool productions.

Ridley Jones Plot and What Should we Expect

Ridley, a six-year-old CG animation series, is a protector of the museum she considers home, alongside her mother and grandmother. It takes a true hero to keep the exhibits safe, especially when the lights go out and the displays, which range from Egyptian mummies to stampeding elephants, come to life! Ridley learns from her various adventures that being a good guardian and leader is about finding common ground and appreciating people, regardless of our differences.

Chris Nee signed an overall deal with Netflix in late 2018 and this is one of his first significant projects. Chris mentioned that this was her first project for Netflix, and that he had always wanted to do a show with a female lead. She wanted to develop a character that she would have liked to see when she was a kid, one who was full of action and excitement. She also noted that this show provided the ideal opportunity to develop a community of diverse characters that demonstrate what it means to care for one another. The show is remarkable in that, as museum displays, they all work together to create a cohesive whole, regardless of era. The show appears to be a smash hit, and it could be the ideal way to spend a summer day.

Dino Daycare, Spirit Rangers, Ada Twist, Scientist, and We The People are among her other Netflix projects now in development. Lara Nemirovsky (Ridley Jones), Laraine Newman (Peaches), David Errigo Jr. (Dudley), Tyler Shamy (Dante), Ezra Menas (Fred), Ashlyn Madden (Ismat), Sutton Foster (Mama Jones), Blythe Danner (Grandma Jones), Bob Bergen (Mr. Peabody), and Jane Lynch (Lonny) are among the voice actors.

Let’s all embrace inclusivity and make shows a platform where children can learn this in their early age. Are you excited about this animated series? On the Netflix Jr. YouTube channel, the first episode of Ridley Jones is now accessible to view. Beginning July 13, the series will be available on Netflix.
