Every individual whose entered the endless domain of anime has without fail come across one name in particular, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Who ever has heard that name, has also come to know to associate it with the title of, “number one anime ever made”. In all honesty, that statement is true in every regard for a unanimous percentage of anime enthusiasts.
When I myself, like many others, came across Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood I thought of it as over hyped. At that time Death Note was my gold standard, like most people who just found out about a thing called “anime”. But after finally completing all 64 episodes of Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood I knew for a fact that it was the best anime I had ever watched- this statement still holds true till this day, 6 years later.

FMAB does a splendid job of taking themes of heroics, selflessness, selfishness, greed, kindness, and grinds them up so well with other countless emotions that the resulting remedy is an unforgettable experience.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is a remake of the original Full Metal Alchemist anime released around 2004, with the change that the remake sticks to the manga through and through.
When two brothers try to revive their late mother through magic, their alchemy experiment goes woefully wrong, leaving them in amputated physical forms. They then set out In search of the fabled Philosophers Stone, that is said to grant any wish. Along this wonderful journey, the brothers Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric meet hundreds of colourful characters- each written in depth with a specific aspiration, something a disappointing number of animes lack.

You’ll meet characters like Roy Mustang, a commander with dazzling powers of flame, the infamous seven deadly sins and beings of godly decent. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood has such rich lore that it feels completed in only 64 episodes, a thing tough to do even in tenfold that number.
Ratings, Legacy and Author
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood has been at the number one spot on MyAnimeList with 9.14, as well as IMDB with 9.1 for about a decade. It has occasionally been dethroned but those animes that achieved that feat soon descended to the top ten after all their episodes were rated collectively.
Since ending in 2012, there hasn’t been a movie or continuation series but if there was, the fandom might go insane at the news. FMAB has done it all and maybe that’s why the author, Hiromu Arakawa, has not meddled with it since. She has now released her latest manga Yomi no Tsugai, which is an interesting tale with a lot of potential.
