‘High Rise Invasion’: Netflix’s Next Big Anime to Release in February, Plot, Cast, and more

Anime fans are stuck waiting for their favorite animes to come back with a new season. As the likes of My Hero Academia and Haikyu!!, two of the biggest animes in the business (and two of my biggest biases), are still under production for their latest seasons, rest in the fact that there are plenty more animes to choose from––and considering the time at your hands, you have a lot of experimenting to do.

Fret not, anime fans! Netflix has been doing their thing in giving the anime world freshly-baked content. The first on the Netflix anime list of 2021 is coming this February––a brutal and chaotic High Rise Invasion is something you should be looking out for. The Original anime has been talked about for months and here’s everything you need to know about the anime with its plot, cast, trailer, and release date on the streaming giant.

Based on the manga of the same name, High Rise Invasion is an upcoming Netflix Original horror-mystery Japanese anime series. Author Tsuina Miura’s masterpiece is the first full Original anime series coming to the streaming giant in 2021. Zero-G handles the production of the anime series––the same production company that handled the likes of Dive!!, Grand Blue, and My Roommate is a Cat.

As for when it’s coming to the streaming platform, the first season of High Rise Invasion will be landing on Netflix on the 25th of February, 2021. So you better clear your watchlists by then because this will probably occupy you the day. However, the episode count is still undisclosed to the public but every episode will be available to watch upon the release of the anime.

As you’d expect from any anime, it’s delivered alongside some of the weirdest storylines––but nothing too overwhelming for the normal anime watcher. The story revolves around a high school student by the name of Yuri Honjō who finds herself lost in an “abnormal space.” The world she finds herself in involves what seems to be countless skyscrapers (hence the High Rise) connected by suspension bridges and mysteriously “masked figures” that, without hesitation, slaughter their confused and escaping victims. We’ll be alongside her throughout her journey as she decides whether or not she survives the freaky world––will she be the victim?

There are but a few people involved in the anime because there are only a handful of roles for High Rise Invasion and it includes:

Haruka Shiraishi as Yuri Honjō, Yuuichirou Umehara as Kamen Sniper, Shiki Aoki as Mayuko Nise, Junya Enoki as Rika Honjō, and Akira Sekine as Kuon Shunzaki.

True enough, Tsuina Miura’s work is about to be fulfilling itself as an anime. The manga, however, includes 21 volumes spread across a total of 249 chapters. Considering that, then anime lovers are not to be scared of sudden scarcity in the source material. With that, we can assume that the upcoming anime series will be covering the first 94 chapters, inherently using up the first eight volumes of the manga. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Additionally, there’s a huge possibility of seeing a second season. Netflix is vague in renewing, but the chance is here. Aforementioned, the original manga boasts 249 chapters and as you may have expected, it’s quite impossible to cover all of that in just one season. Before it was even released, when it was still hinting at production, it was one of the animes people were talking massively about––early waiting for its release. If anything, there’s more reason for the streaming giant to renew the series as soon as possible with the number of fans they’ve already gotten before the release.

Here’s the trailer!
