‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’, A New K-Drama Rom-Com is Set to Air Soon on Netflix

It appears like we’ll be adding another series to our loooong list of K-dramas to look forward to this year, as Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah have been confirmed to star in a new rom-com together! This drama, titled Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, is a remake of the 2004 Korean film Mr. Hong, which starred Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Joo Hyuk.

The K-drama will be produced by tvN, the Korean entertainment network behind hit dramas including Reply 1988, Crash Landing On You, Mr. Queen, Start-Up, Hospital Playlist, and Vincenzo.

‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ Plot and Other Notable Details

Yoon Hye Jin, a beautiful and brilliant woman, had her life and profession planned out, but after a major setback, she relocates to the beach village of Gongjin, thanks in part to the justice of her heart. It is at Gongjin that she meets Mr. Hong, who is technically unemployed but is a master of odd jobs, assisting those in need across the community.

Shin Min-ah will play dentist Yoon Hye-jin while Hong Du-sik will be played by Kim Seon-ho. After acting alongside Bae Suzy and Nam Hoo-jyuk in the tvN show Start-Up, Kim Seon-ho became a worldwide phenomenon. The series followed a woman who aspired to be the next Steve Jobs and became entangled in a confusing love triangle that included her childhood beloved (Seon-ho) and a man who pretended to be her childhood lover (Nam hoo-jyuk). The majority of fans rooted for Kim Seon-ho, resulting in ‘second lead syndrome.’

Shin Min-a is recognized for her roles in A Love To Kill, My Girlfriend Is A Nine-Tailed Fox, and Oh My Venus, among others.

The series will be directed by Yu Je-won, while the screenplay will be written by Shin Ha-eun. On Saturday, August 28th, 2021, Netflix will release the first episode of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. the K-Drama will have 16 episodes in total, which is the standard number of episodes for South Korean cable dramas. On Saturdays and Sundays, new episodes will be released biweekly. The episodes will be 70 minutes long.
