He’s not one of the most influential hip-hop artists for nothing. Jay-Z has always been a trademark in any industry. Although this time, he’s making yet another breakthrough in the filming side of the world as he will be producing a film adaptation of Dwayne Alexander Smith’s equally-influential novel Forty Acres alongside Netflix.
After producing The Harder They Fall, this will only be the second time Jay-Z will be sitting in the producer’s chair. Currently, he’s also been in the works alongside Luke Cage series creator Cheo Hodari Coker on a film that’s apparently a mix of Get Out and The Firm––sounds like a pretty Jay-Z project for me.
As for Forty Acres, the novel revolves around the story of a civil rights attorney fighting for his life after getting mixed up in an elite Black organization that wields one of the darkest secrets in the world.
Alongside Jay-Z are, of course, his fellow producers in Aaron Kaplan of Kapial Entertainment, Nikes Kirchner, and Bill Strauss.
According to Netflix, the film is just in its early development stage. Coming off of a project with Kaplan for a limited series in ABC-dubbed Women of the Movement, Jay-Z is in form for working on another project.
