Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will premiere in December 2021

Fans eagerly wait for the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen after watching the final episode, flashing a “To be continued” text at the end of the last scene. The statement assures the possibility of a second-season adaptation of the manga.

Since fans truly appreciated the series garnering a rating of 8.47 on the MyAnimeList forum and 8.7 on IMDb, the possibility of continuation is high because of positive ratings.

What is all the hype about Jujutsu Kaisen?

The anime is set in a fantasy world where all living things emanate cursed energy sourced from the negative emotions that flow through the body. Because of the accumulation of cursed energy, cursed spirits were born. The cursed spirits desire to bring darkness and danger to humanity. That is why Jujutsu Sorcerers were formed to exorcise them.

The protagonist Yuji Itadori and supporting characters such as Gojo Satoru and Megumi Fushiguro were the most beloved characters by the fans, based on the popularity poll from Shounen Jump magazine. In the MyAnimeList forum, fans are overly excited waiting for another season because things got more interesting in the latest chapters of the manga.

The popular Weekly  Shōnen Jump manga, Jujutsu Kaisen, initially premiered an anime adaptation in October 2020 and ended in March 2021. The manga’s early success made it into an anime and has been a hit since its release. Added to the hype of the anime’s first season is that it is animated by MAPPA studios, which livened the heavily famous Attack on Titan anime series.

Are we ready for the second season?

Although there is no official announcement yet, MAPPA announced the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which will premiere in December 2021. Since the manga is still ongoing, there are a lot of materials for the anime to cover. This gives anticipation for more anime episodes to be released. If the sales of both manga and the film were high and the audience received the material, then the second season will likely follow after the movie.

Another helpful piece of news is, Gege Akutami, the author of Jujutsu Kaisen manga, has returned from hiatus. This means that we can expect a second season sooner because the anime typically waits for manga chapters to source its content material. It is generally scheduled for the animation studios to continue massive anime hits such as Jujutsu Kaisen since it helps the manga sell and reach more audiences.

Demon Slayer, a very famous and well-received anime, got an official announcement of the second season. The chances are high that Jujutsu Kaisen is on the same track.
