Netflix’s ‘Jupiter’s Legacy’: Official Release Date and Trailer Announced

We finally have all the answers. From what was a speculation of both the release date and the trailer, Netflix has finally given the fans what they wanted and needed. The streaming giant’s first release (of many, of course) of the Millarworld Universe, Jupiter’s Legacy, now has all the information you need––including the release date, a trailer, and what more to expect.

What is Jupiter’s Legacy all about?

To put it simply, Jupiter’s Legacy is an upcoming Netflix Original superhero-drama based on Mark Millar’s comic of the same name. There are the likes of the DC Universe and Marvel Universe, but the Millarworld Universe is also something to look forward to. Jupiter’s Legacy and Jupiter’s Circle are two of the best works from Millar, and Netflix to have the rights to create a series about it is a power move in itself.

Amongst many, the superhero-drama is the first title to be released on the streaming giant from the Millarworld comics. Set in the 1930s, the first generation of superheroes rose to fame after receiving their powers. Now in the present day, these older, original heroes have become the elder guards while their children, meanwhile, have taken on the mantle of becoming like the fabled heroes their parents once were.

In May of 2020, Mark Millar confirmed that the combination of Jupiter’s Legacy 1 as well as Jupiter’s Circle 1 are what the Netflix series is based on.

However, very recently, there’s been more news about Jupiter’s Legacy––especially ones planned for the 27th of February. Netflix’s official @NXOnNetflix Twitter account, alongside IGN, will be opening the doors of the show on the 26th and 27th of February as the show will be part of the website’s Fanfest event. Here’s what they said in the statement:

Ahead of the upcoming epic new superhero series Jupiter’s Legacy, comic creator Mark Millar and series star Josh Duhamel come together for the exclusive first interview about the highly anticipated project. In this exclusive conversation, we’ll get new details from Millar and Duhamel on how the expansive graphic novels jumped from page to screen in Netflix’s new series. New character details, new plot details and an Easter egg from Frank Quitely, we’re delivering answers on this superhero saga that has been years in the making.

When will Jupiter’s Legacy release on Netflix?

Finally! After numerous articles about the superhero-drama without its release date, we’re finally here. After literal years of waiting for the first season’s release date, Netflix has finally confirmed that Jupiter’s Legacy is set to release on the 7th of May, 2021.

The news came on the 23rd of February, 2021, as Mark Millar dropped the first teaser trailer of the series, and alongside it came the release date on Twitter. Here it is!

Who is attached to the superhero series?

Directing the superhero-drama is the former Daredevil writer, producer, and director Steven S. DeKnight who signed an overall deal with Netflix. As for the cast, the heroes will be played by Josh Duhamel (Sheldon Sampson/The Utopian), Ben Daniels (Walter Sampson/Brainwave), Leslie Bibb (Grace Sampson/Lady Liberty), Elena Kampouris (Chloe Sampson), Andrew Horton (Brandon Sampson/Paragon), Mike Wade (Fitz Small/The Flare), Kara Royster (Janna Croft/Ghostbeam), Anna Akana (Raikou), and Jess Salgueiro (Shockwave/Timone). The villain, however, will be played by Matt Lanter (George Hutchene/Skyfox).

That’s not all, though! Thanks to IMDb’s updates, more stars are to be featured in the show:

  • Elena Kampouris as Chloe Sampson
  • Jhene Erwin as Katherin Morris
  • Jennifer De Lucia as Leighton
  • Kathryn Davis as Vera
  • Tenika Davis as Petra Small
  • John Bourgeois as Percy
  • Chase Tang as Baryon
  • Tyler Mane as Blackstar
  • Ian Quinlan as Hutch

Here’s the official trailer as well!
