Not all Marvel releases are jampacked hits. Though it had somewhat of a good run, the supernatural drama series Helstrom will no longer be available on Hulu after a season on the streaming platform. Helstrom, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, marks the end of Marvel-based television that’s under Jeph Loeb.

Sadly for the series, the cancellation of the series came just a little less than two months after the supernatural drama series premiered on Hulu. When it was released, it was greeted with mixed reviews and reception. One issue that audiences saw was that it looked as if Marvel didn’t want anything to do with the series with their logo unseen throughout the marketing materials.
The series followed Daimon and Ana Helstrom as they look for “the worst of humanity.” For casual fans of Marvel, this might be your first take on how Marvel depicts horror especially on the television side of things. The sad thing is that it had so much potential, it just wasn’t materialized into the series. Don’t even get me started on the canceled Ghost Rider series.
If you think this is the end of the Marvel Universe on Hulu, don’t worry, it isn’t. Thankfully, you’ll just have to wait for the upcoming M.O.D.O.K animated series starring Patton Oswalt. Though it isn’t really Captain America or Iron Man level, Disney still does have control over the streaming platform so it’s possible that as long as a series doesn’t affect the MCU, other Marvel series could very well end up in Hulu.
For now, let’s mourn for Helstrom and its mark at the end of one of an important chapter in the world of Marvel live-action.
But of course, Hulu is not completely out of Marvel shows yet. There’s still the upcoming M.O.D.O.K animated series starring Patton Oswalt, and given Disney’s control of the streamer it’s also possible that future, less MCU-tethered properties could wind up there. For now, though, Helstrom marks the end of a major chapter in Marvel live-action history.
