‘Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation’ is having a Season 2

Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu or Jobless Reincarnation: I Will Seriously Try If I Go to Another World’ is an isekai fantasy anime based on a Japanese light novel series written and illustrated by Rifujin na Magonote.

It is a story about when a 34-year-old underachiever/NEET is hit by a bus (in typical isekai fashion) while trying to save someone as a last-ditch attempt to at least make his life mean something, the unnamed protagonist finds himself reborn as an infant, in a world of fantasy, swords and sorcery.

With memories of his previous life still intact, he promises himself to not repeat the same mistakes of his past life, and filled with a determination to live a better more valued life with his newly found identity Rudeus Greyrat (ルーデウス・グレイラット Rūdeusu Gureiratto).

Isekai has grown in popularity in the anime world over the last few years. But despite the amount of similarity to content to recent releases such as ‘Rising of the Shield Hero’ and ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’, Mushoku Tensei has been able to set itself apart from the typical isekai genre by having its main protagonist start of all over again as a nothing more than a mere toddler.

Having a body of a child paired with a mind of a slightly perverted middle-aged man makes for a good comedy, a comedic relief that could make both weebs and people-new-to-anime giggle.

The light novel where it is based is praised to have complex characters and very well-developed storylines, pair that with stunning animation and you’ve got yourself a juggernaut of a series. One more impressive note is that Mushoku Tensei is Studio Bind’s (animation company) debut project.

Continuation of the Series

As soon as the series had stopped, people had been asking when the 2nd Season of Mushoku Tensei would be released? Well, good news and bad news; the bad news is that Mushoku Tensei Season 2 hasn’t been officially announced.

But before you get all drab and gloomy, the reason why Season 2 still isn’t in the works is that Japanese TV broadcasts follow a system known as cours; what are cours you ask? Basically, each anime telecasts about 10-13 episodes and then takes a brief pause and after a couple of months, the anime starts airing its next cour. Meaning the reason there isn’t any news about season 2 is that Season 1 still hasn’t ended yet.

Good news is that Mushoku Tensei Season 1: Part 2 is said to release on 3rd of October 2021 (confirmed by Funimation). The series is said to have 23 episodes in total, continuing the story where it left off.

Succeeding in the part where Rudeus killed the monster and left the city with Eris and Ruijerd. It is also anticipated that Rudy may face Sylphiette and the Empress of the Demon Continent, there is also a possibility that we would finally know what happened to Ghislaine after the blast.

Having 25 volumes of light novel reference means that Mushoku Tensei has and will probably have more to offer (sides to depict, arcs to follow through) these upcoming cours and seasons.

Expected Cast

It is rumored that the same cast will be playing the roles on both fields as before, in audio and animation. So here is the expected cast list Rudeus (Japanese Voice over actor Yumi Uchiyama and English actress Madeline Morris); Roxy (Konomi Kohara/Michelle Rojas); Eris (Ai Kakuma/Lindsay Seidel), and Ruijerd (Daisuke Namikawa/Christopher Wehkamp).

Expect new characters to be introduced as the episodes continue to follow through the light novel, bringing in more voices to join the casting list.
