Yesterday Netflix revealed a sneak peek at Castlevania: Nocturne during their geeked week 2022 livestream. Geeked week is still happening as a part of Summer Game Fest this year, and you can catch up on all the previous and upcoming livestreams directly on YouTube.

Castlevania is a gothic horror video game series that has been around for about four decades. The original game released in 1986, which was followed by many new entries such as the platforming action game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, along with massive AAA titles for the Xbox 360 such as Castlevania: Lord of Shadows 1 & 2. Eventually clawing its way into the anime domain, Castlevania has had a fantastic run. With a new series “Castlevania: Nocturne” on the horizon, OG fans are waiting impatiently.

In 2017 Netflix released their Adult dark medieval fantasy series Castlevania. The series was a success, it had stunning visuals, a well written story, and graceful character designs. Powerhouse Animations did a splendid job of depicting such undead characters as truly alive.

We all know when there is even a mention of vampiric deeds, there is a name that always shows up without fail- Dracula. So we have Dracula, or also known as the devil, or any other horrendous name you could think of, leading a simple life with his wife amongst the normal folk.

A being of Demonic Godly Powers, Dracula, the Apex predator of a godforsaken world is trying his best to live like a normal man as per his wife’s request. Lisa the healer, Dracula’s wife, was a lover of science. Her search for knowledge led her to Dracula’s castle, and while studying the wonders of science there, she fell in love with Dracula.

One day the townsfolk accused her science as witchcraft and burnt her at the stake. Dracula who was trekking by foot (as he had renounced his powers) reached far too late. Maddened by the fact he could’ve save her if he used his powers, Dracula gives the town one year to repent for its actions, and if they do not he will murder them all.

The people of Wallachia failed to comply, and as such Dracula summoned his demonic army. The terrain forever changed, with people doing their utmost to survive.

We’ll follow Trevor Belmont, a warrior, on his quest to end Dracula. But the story unravels itself in many ways, revealing twists unforeseeable. Who is Trevor actually? His descent? And why would he ever think of taking on Dracula? You’ll have to watch the original Castlevania Animation to find out.

The series ended in 2021 with season 4, but fans got a sigh of relief when a sequel series was announced. Castlevania: Nocturne is the official label for the series, unveiled by Geoff Keighley yesterday.
