Netflix’s ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’: Release Date, Plot, Cast, and Epic Trailer

What a week for Netflix announcements and we aren’t even close to Geeked Week yet. Shortly after teasing the fans with Money Heist Season 5, the streaming giant has also unveiled the other action-thriller you didn’t know you were waiting for––Gunpowder Milkshake. Evidently, Netflix looks to be trying out star-led action movies as this one is about a group of female assassins who basically just shoot a ton of bad guys.

What is Gunpowder Milkshake all about?

Thanks to the trailer, now we know that the movie isn’t all just shooting bad guys (but it still mostly is). The story revolves around Sam (Karen Gillan), a second-generation assassin whose mother (Lena Headey) left her many years ago. However, in the effort to save an eight-year-old named Emily (Chloe Coleman) after a failed job, Sam must reunite with her mother. With connections underground, they call a society of hitwomen (Carla Guigina, Angela Bassett, and Michelle Yeoh). For one thing, this will be one movie to remember.

The movie is directed by Big Bad Wolves‘ Navot Papushado from a script he co-wrote alongside Ehud Lavski. The film stars:

  • Karen Gillan as Sam
  • Lena Headey as Scarlet, Sam’s mother
  • Chloe Coleman as Emily
  • Angela Bassett as Anna May
  • Carla Gugino as Madeleine
  • Michelle Yeoh as Florence
  • Paul Giamatti as Nathan

When is the release date of Gunpowder Milkshake on Netflix?

Gunpowder Milkshake, with all of its bullets and women dominance, is to release on the 14th of July, 2021 on Netflix!

What did the trailer for Gunpowder Milkshake show?

As we’ve said, it’s all thanks to the trailer. Besides the aforementioned plot, the trailer really emphasized––and I mean emphasized––on the shooting.

Though it does have a lot of well-needed comedic pauses, you’re about to feast your eyes on Gatling guns, countertop shootouts, a big library hideout, car chases and fights (maybe even an Uber here and there, according to the trailer), a beautiful retro diner battle, and so much more to look forward to.

It isn’t just that, though, so don’t worry. There were some hand-to-hand combats as well and even one character that uses two hammers to fight. Not one, but two hammers! That’s one more than Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, I guess.

The good thing is that though there are plenty of gunfights in the trailer, it doesn’t focus on just one. Because why would you expect a movie titled Gunpowder Milkshake to only have one gunfight? Either way, it looks like this group of killer women will face one of the biggest gangs in the movie. Even if you don’t watch the trailer, it’s exactly how you’d expect it to look like.

If you’re ready for some cold action, watch the trailer below!
