Netflix and Ubisoft partner for the live-actions series of ‘Assassin’s Creed’

To all the loyal gamers, especially to those who’ve played Assassin’s Creed, we’re happy to share with you that there will be a live-action series––and it’s dropping on Netflix’s libraries.

The live-action series is part of a deal between Netflix and Ubisoft, the video game company responsible for the legendary Assassin’s Creed game series. The deal is developed to create content inspired by the best-selling video game franchise. The deal is inclusive of not only the live-action but also the animated and anime series.

The crew behind the series is yet to be complete though, as they’ve been missing a showrunner for the first series. Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik, from Ubisoft Film & Television, will be serving as executive producers, though.

For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ brand into an iconic franchise,” said Altman, head of Ubisoft Film & Television – Los Angeles.

We’re thrilled to create an ‘Assassin’s Creed’ series with Netflix and we look forward to developing the next saga in the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ universe.

The game, Assassin’s Creed, made its debut for gamers in 2007. Instantly, it became one of the biggest games in today’s generation. The game has been blessed enough to cover various titles and sequels, and with that, Ubisoft has sold over 155 million copies to date.

Playing in an open world, the game allows you to explore and play a part in the war between the Assassins and the Templars who have advanced technology to find what’s called the Pieces of Eden.

We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multilayered storytelling that ‘Assassin’s Creed’ is beloved for,” said Peter Friedlander, vice president of original series at Netflix.

From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.
