Netflix has finally set a premiere date for Korea’s anticipated sci-fi blockbuster in Space Sweepers. Because of the unpredictability caused by the coronavirus, the distributor of the film decided not to give the film a theatrical release. Instead, the film is set to release on the streaming giant––a platform that lets 190 countries enjoy its content. Originally set to hit local theatres last summer, Space Sweepers will not be premiering on the 5th of February, 2021.
Money is their only goal.

Alongside the release date, Netflix also released a poster and a couple of trailers for the film. The big-budget film features some of the biggest stars in Korea, including Song Joong-ki and Kim Tae-i––making this one of the biggest Korean films to rattle not just 2021, but after a handful of years.
Directed by Jo Sung-hee, the South Korea sci-fi action movie is set in 2092 and takes place in a spaceship named ‘Victory,’ one of the vessels that survive through scavenging space debris.
As mentioned, the film stars some K-Drama favorites in Song Joong-ki from The Battleship Island who will be the vessel’s space pilot, Kim Tae-ri from The Handmaiden, on the other hand, will serve as the mysterious ex-pirate. Alongside them are Jin Sun-Kyu as a spaceship engineer and Yoo Hai-jin as Bubs, a reprogrammed military robot.
After Victory snatches a space shuttle during their debris hunt, they find a humanlike 7-year-old robot girl inside. However, the girl is wanted by the UTS Space Guards and it’s up to the people inside Victory to decide what to do.
