Brad Pitt’s Plan B to Produce Liu Cixin’s ‘The Three-Body Problem’ Coming to Netflix

Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, is set to partner with Game of Thrones creators, David Benioff and DB Weiss, and Star Wars director, Rian Johnson. These all-star partnerships are surfacing through for a new Chinese sci-fi adaptation for Netflix’s libraries.

The adaptation in the talks will be for Liu Cixin’s best-selling book trilogy, The Three-Body Problem, which focuses on the story of humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization. The adaptation will be released all around the globe through the streaming giant.

Liu Cixin’s Trilogy is the most ambitious sci-fi series we’ve read, taking readers on a journey from the 1960s to the end times, of life on our pale blue dot to the distant fringes of the universe,Game of Thrones duo, David Benioff and DB Weiss, who are set to co-write, said in a statement.

If you made Benioff and Weiss think something’s ambitious––especially in the world of sci-fi––you know you’re doing something right.

According to Liu himself, the apocalyptic series “transcends time and the confines of nations, cultures, and races; a series that requires us to consider the fate of humanity as a whole.” Liu imagines a story wherein a Chinese astrophysicist discovers an extraterrestrial civilization during the Cultural Revolution.

I mean, Barack Obama is a fan––is there anything else you’d like me to say? According to the former President, the trilogy made his “day-to-day problems with Congress seem pretty trivial – nothing to worry about. The aliens are about to happen.

With quite the production crew, who knows where they’ll take the future adaptation. Either way, we’re all hoping that they give the book just enough justice for us to look forward to once it premieres.
