Netflix Releases Trailer for Italian Romance Series ‘Devotion: A Story of Love and Desire’

Get a dose of reality this valentine with Netflix’s new Italian series Devotion: A Story of Love and Desire that will premiere on February 14 2022.

From the trailer released by the streaming platform on Monday, January 17, it’s clear that love isn’t all rainbows and sunshine as a young couple deals with the aftermath of infidelity and betrayal.

More About The Series

The six-part series is based on the novel of the same title by Marco Missiroli. Missiroli won the Strega Prize Giovani in 2019 and is a finalist for the 73rd Strega Prize. The book was a bestseller in Italy so, Italian fans must be pretty excited to see a live-action production of their favorite content.

Devotion: A Story of Love and Desire is produced by BiBi Film and directed by Andrea Molaioli and Stefano Cipani. Its script writers are Alessandro Fabbri, Elisa Amoruso and Laura Colella. Filming took place in Milan, Rimini and Rome.

What’s The Storyline?

Between Milan and Rimini, we see a young married couple, Carlo (Michele Riondino) and Margherita (Lucrezia Guidone), pledging their undying fidelity to each other. But the temptations of life caused by lust and desire makes them question their faithfulness and devotion.

Netflix sums it up well with the phrase, “Those who love, betray”, used in the trailer.

Cast Members

So far, we only know of two cast members Riondioni who starred in The Young Montalbano and Guidone from Summertime.

We’ll get to know of the rest when the series drops on Valentine.
