Netflix has been big with these international releases. May it be connecting further to certain parts of the world or these films are just masterpieces, fans are happy to receive them either way. Considering that the streaming giant has been very experimental with their platforms, even releasing a TV-like channel, these deals are not too far off from Netflix’s urge to explore.
The film stars a British-Kenyan actor in Charles Mnene and Hollywood’s very own Hakeem Kae-Kazim.
The streaming giant is set to release the South African film, Riding With Sugar, on the 27th of November, 2020. What separates this from any other film is the work put into it––a whopping 17 years went into the making of this film with extreme efforts by writer and director, Canned Lions Gold Winner, Sunu Gonera.
The film revolves around the story of Joshua, a refugee whose dream is to win a cycling championship so he could live a better life. However, after an accident occurs, his dreams are shatters. He is given shelter and a job, though, by Mambo who makes an effort to house refugee teenagers across Africa. When Joshua meets a dancer names Olivia, she brings him to a world he has never seen before.
Riding With Sugar is in very good hands, not only with their stars but with Gonera as well. Gonera has directed the likes of 2007’s Pride, 13 Reasons Why, Snowfall, and Madam Secretary.
