Stay Close: British Crime Thriller Miniseries Based on a Novel by Harlan Coben

Lately, Netflix has been dishing out impressive thriller content, including Kevin Hart’s True Story that was released on 24 November. New Year’s Eve sees the premiere of Richard Armitage’s Stay Close that stirs up intense thrill.

This eight-episode show shares the story of a group of people whose secrets cause tension and intense suspense as they’d rather have intact lives than disclose their innate past lives. Watch the trailer below.

What’s The Story?

Stay Close is a British crime thriller miniseries based on the 2012 novel of the same title by Harlan Coben. It is produced by Red Productions Company, where filming started on 18 February 2021 and ended on 30 July 2021. It was filmed in Blackpool, Manchester and North West England.

Netflix signed a five-year deal with Coben back in August 2018 where the streaming company would produce TV shows from 14 of his novels, with him as the producer. Stay Close follows the Netflix originals, The Innocent (2021), The Woods (2020), The Stranger (2020) and Safe (2018).

Synopsis

The series stars four individuals, Ray (Richard Armitage), a former documentary photographer, Megan (Cush Jumbo), a working mum, Lorraine (Sarah Parish), Megan’s old friend and Broome (James Nesbitt), a detective. The four have skeletons in their closets that they hide from their loved ones. Lorraine delivers some surprising news that impacts their lives as past moments erupt to haunt them.

Moreover, the suspense show features a charming young couple, Ken (Hyoie O’ Grady) and Barbie (Poppy Gilbert), as well as a police detective Erin Cartwright (Jo Joyner) and Simona, an expectant former army sergeant (Andi Osho).
