Netflix’s ‘The Sandman’: New Cast Members for Neil Gaiman’s DC Comics Adaptation

Netflix’s The Sandman, based on the spine-thrilling DC Comics/Vertigo series of the same name, is probably one of the most-awaited series in production for the streaming giant. For years, fans have been asking, theorizing, tweeting, and waiting for Neil Gaiman’s onscreen adaptation. After a couple of failed starts, the adaptation is finally coming through with Gaiman, Allan Heinberg, and David S. Goyer at the helm.

Since October 2020, the cast and the production crew have been working hard on the first season to meet all of your expectations. However, at the point in time, that was all we knew––even the cast wasn’t given too many announcements, just the likes of Tom Sturridge, Charles Dance, Gwendoline Christie, and a couple more names. Now, in a massive casting announcement, we finally know the full cast list for The Sandman.

Who are attached to Netflix’s The Sandman

Honestly, the cast of The Sandman is proving to be a force to be reckoned with––especially for an Original series. If anything, these faces will probably be the ones to watch out for. With 12 new confirmed cast members for the first season of the series, this adds to the 11 names we already knew during the first announcement of the series––making it 23 people in front of the camera.

Even the casting itself proves to be a mind-twisting puzzle. One of the casting choices from the beautiful photo of talents above is Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine. If you’re familiar with the story and the family trees, Johanna Constantine is actually the ancestor of John Constantine––yes, the same occult detective John Constantine you know and love. However, it’s still ambiguous whether or not Coleman will be portraying as John’s ancestor or a gender-reversed John Constantine. I mean, Gwendoline Christie and Vivienne Acheampong are playing Lucifer and Lucienne, respectively, and this proves that the theory could very well be a safe assumption.

Proudly, here is the full list of the new cast members for the first season of The Sandman!

  • Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death
