‘On My Block’ Season 4: What Will Happen in Season 4? Release Date and Production Updates

What’s next for On My Block season 3, you ask? Well, season 4 of course! With the recent ending of the third season, fans are already excited to watch the upcoming season of the well-loved series. For the Flixrazzi team, the rise to fame of the series has yet to surprise us.

Since its debut for the streaming giant way back in 2018, avid watchers of the series have fallen to their knees for the teen drama with Monse, Cesar, Jamal, Ruben, and Jasmine. With a serious mix of friendship and rainbows to total chaos and crazy antics, the group’s overall charisma has made them the series to watch when you just want to laugh your pants off.

Before we get to anything season 4-related, let’s first get you through the happenings of the third season so if you haven’t been updated in watching, make sure to not go beyond this sentence to avoid spoilers. The third season revolved heavily around The Santos’ kidnapping of Monse, Cesar, Ruben, and Jamal.

Unfortunately, much like any of Netflix’s banging new shows and renewals, the streaming giant is yet to officially renew On My Block for another season––and that means no release date just yet. However, there seems to be a pattern when it comes to the series’ arrival on the platform wherein the first season dropped on the 16th of March, 2018, the second season dropped on the 29th of March, 2019, and the third season dropped on the 11th of March, 2020. If anything, let’s hope we’ll get to see the series in the same month––and updates a little earlier. However, because of the pandemic, there’s really no assurance when production will be set for the series––so a delay might be a possibility.

Considering how the third season capped off, expect that the main cast will be back with the likes of Sierra Capri, Diego Tinoco, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Jessica Marie Garcia, and Julio Macias.

There really isn’t much to go through as for fourth season updates but season after season, director Lauren Iungerich and the rest of the crew have brewed something more exciting than that of previous seasons. Also, hats off to the team behind the series as well. Behind the outstanding show is an equally outstanding group of people behind the camera. In fact, Iungerich signed a multi-year overall deal with the streaming platform which happily forces her to create more content for the platform––especially more episodes of On My Block. So in that department, we are definitely looking good.

In an interview with Variety, she said that she’s “incredibly grateful to continue working with the many talented creatives at Netflix to keep telling stories that resonate with audiences. My hope is that this opportunity will open doors for all the amazing people around me as well.”

Not only that, Netflix’s vice president of YA/family original series has spoken about the original series as well, adding that they are “thrilled to continue working with her on On My Block and look forward to other future projects.”

Co-creator of the show, Eddie Gonzales, spoke to reporters during a set visit and said: “When we talk about long stories, when we talk about where the characters are going, we’ll say, ‘You may not see where Spooky’s going this season, but you’ll see it here. Or you may not see where Jamal is going, but trust me, we’re getting to that point and we are building to those things.”

That’s the secret of a beautiful show––the constant communication between crew members and the cast, as well as taking advantage of the uncertainties some parts of their plot has.
