‘Sex Education’ Season 3 is on the Way: Release Date, Cast, and What to Expect

It’s been almost a year since the widely praised Netflix series Sex Education last aired, and until then, here’s everything you know about the show’s highly awaited comeback. The show features the lives of teenagers as they try to figure out who they are and grow up. It has a devoted fan base thanks to its honest and authentic storytelling. With the season two finale delivering a slew of tantalizing cliffhangers that have fans wanting to see what happens next, I’m sure you’re all looking forward to the next installment.

Who Are We Seeing on Season 3?

Otis (Asa Butterfield), Maeve (Emma Mackey), Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), Jean (Gillian Anderson), Adam (Connor Swindells), Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood), Jackson (Kedar Williams-Stirling), Ola (Patricia Allison), Lily (Tanya Reynolds), and Mr. Groff are all expected to return for season three (Alistair Petrie).

Steve (Chris Jenks), Miss Sands (Rakhee Thakrar), Mr Hendricks (Jim Howick), Ola’s father Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt), Maureen (Samantha Spiro), Sofia (Hannah Waddingham), and Roz (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) are also expected to appear, as well as Remi (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) (James Purefoy).

Jemima Kirke has also joined the cast for the third season of the show. The Girls star has been cast as the new headteacher of Moordale High School, succeeding Mr Groff. Jason Isaac has also joined the show’s superb cast as the disgraced headteacher’s – more successful brother.

‘Sex Education’ Season 3 Release

Sex Education season 3 began filming in September after a delay caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

Series two began in January 2020, however Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, has stated that season three will air in the second half of 2021.

What Should We Expect for Season 3?

Since the season two cliffhanger, there’s been a bit of a time leap. Otis has returned to school, but he has a new set of responsibilities. He’s matured and become a little more feisty.

In season three, Otis and Maeve’s connection develops further. We also look at why Otis decided to open a sex therapy clinic in the first place. Was it only to be with Maeve, or does he get happiness in helping others?’

There hasn’t been an official plotline revealed yet, and there are a lot of loose ends from the last series that need to be resolved. For example, after her relationship with Jakob has already shattered, Jean finds she’s pregnant in the season finale. We’ll have to wait and watch how Adam and Eric’s relationship evolves now that he’s publicly professed his affections for him.

In fact, Maeve’s buddy Isaac (George Robinson) removed Otis’ voicemail to her, in which he expressed his love for her. Maeve also discovered that her mother (Anne-Marie Duff) was doing drugs again and reported her to the authorities.

This is only the tip of the iceberg; there is still more to learn and discover. So let us all sit back and wait for the 3rd Season!
