The cast of Stranger Things is up to their shenanigans again. From beating a Demogorgon from the Upside Down to the big Mind-Flayer, and besting themselves in a good ol’ fashion game of Dungeons & Dragons. Finally, it has come to fruition as on the 18th of December, four of our beloved characters from Netflix’s biggest sci-fi series will gather around and play a special game of D&D that is set to be put on live on the show’s YouTube channel!
The participants are David Harbour (Chief Jim Hopper), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), and Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler). Alongside Dungeon Master (and D&D’s Principal Story Designer, like what?!), Chris Perkins, the four will be forming a party for what’s titled Lost Odyssey: Toy Time for Ten-Towns.
Not much of the story they’ll be role-playing has been disclosed, but what you do have to know is that their main mission to save Christmas. D&D players out there recognize the importance of Ten-Towns as it serves as the setting for the recent adventure module titled Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden.

The cool thing about this collaboration is that it happens quite frequently––just not at this level. In the series, the kids are passionate D&D players way before it was even cool. Their fiercest and scariest enemies from the Upside Down are actually named after some of the game’s most iconic monsters: the Demogorgon and the Mind-Flayer.
Thankfully, while they were shooting the Christmas special, they filmed it in accordance with all the safety measures during the pandemic. Wizards of Coast, however, used a SOLO Cinebot that’s been said to film in a quality fit for the cinemas. In short, the quality of what you’ll be seeing on the 18th of December is far better than your D&D session over Zoom or Discord.
