Sweet Magnolias is Now Back on Netflix with Season 2 After a Lengthy Hiatus

This charming Southern soap opera initially aired its first set of episodes in May 2020 — and now we’re finally receiving the following batch. But, as we haven’t seen Maddie, Dana Sue, or Helen pour one in over a year and a half, you may have forgotten where we left our Sweet Magnolias.

Good Lord, it finished with a lot of cliffhangers in May 2020.

Helen decided to consult a fertility specialist after splitting up with her wishy-washy ex Ryan. Erik, a Sullivan’s cook, may be her new love interest. Concerning the Sullivans, Dana Sue is putting pressure on Ronnie to complete their divorce so she may seek for a loan and buy out her former business partner. And Maddie and Cal had a miscommunication when she assumed he wanted her son Ty to choose baseball over college.

But the actual reason you should see Season 2 is the nail-biting automobile catastrophe that ended the season finale. We know Kyle, Maddie’s middle kid, was driving, but who was the passenger? Is it Kyle’s brother Ty or Nellie, Kyle’s prom date? Is it Dana Sue’s daughter Annie? Could it be one of many other high school students?

Sweet Magnolias, based on Sheryl Woods’ novels, treated fans like family in its first season. The Netflix series follows three childhood best friends, Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen Decatur (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliott), as they keep each other sane in the face of broken relationships, the trials of raising teenagers, and whatever else life throws at them.

Sweet Magnolias Season 2 is now available on Netflix.
