‘Sweet Tooth’: Robert Downey Jr.’s Project with Netflix, Release Date, Plot, Cast, and Trailer

Marvel’s going to take its sweet before letting out the big mutant guns. We’ve already been deprived of MCU content anyway so there’s really no harm done here. Netflix, however, is ready to step up to fill that X-Men-esque void with the release of Sweet Tooth. Don’t mind the wholesome title because it does pack quite the punch in its trailer. Here’s everything you need to know about the next human/animal combination!

What is Sweet Tooth all about?

Sweet Tooth is based on Jeff Lemire’s DC comic of the same name and revolves around the story of hybrids––and one particular boy/deer hybrid in Gus (Christian Convery). In an attempt to kill Gus, a mysterious man by the name of Tommy Jepperd (Nonso Anozie) saves the day. The two of them set out on an adventure to seek what’s left of the United States and find all other hybrids to look for refuge. While on the journey, Gud and Tommy encounter both allies and enemies––friends and foes––all the while seeking the true meaning of home.

Who are attached to Netflix’s Sweet Tooth?

As has been said, Jeff Lemire constitutes the whole idea of the series and stars Convery and Anozie. However, the firepower comes from behind the camera as two producers by the name of Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey, have kept their eyes on the project. According to Susan, she hopes that those who plan on watching the series will have the same experience as they do as a family––together, all cuddled up on the couch.

The series is showrun by Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow‘s own Beth Schwartz and In the Shadow of the Moon‘s Jim Mickle, the project also stars the likes of:

  • Adeel Akhtar as Dr. Aditya Singh
  • Aliza Vellan as Rani Singh
  • Stefanie LaVie Owen as Bear
  • Dania Ramirez as Aimee Eden
  • Neil Sandilands as General Abbot
  • Wille Forte as the Father
  • James Brolin as the Narrator of the series

All I’m saying is that if you have James Brolin as your narrator, big things are coming your way.

When is the release date of Sweet Tooth?

Best believe you better be ready for it! All four episodes of Gus’ adventure start on the 4th of June, 2021!

Is there a trailer for Sweet Tooth?

What’s a big Netflix release without its trailer, huh? The first teaser trailer of Sweet Tooth was released in April but a month later, the streaming giant came out with a new one and showed a ton of new footage and scenes to hype up the series.

According to Lemire and the trailer, Gus is the embodiment of hope––especially in the middle of the darkness. This couldn’t have come at a better time when people have been so divided during the pandemic and external and internal war.

This should be a sci-fi film but it's actually my life
