The Fellowship Ends: Netflix Canada Bids Farewell to ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Trilogy

Unfortunately, the Fellowship between Netflix Canada and The Lord of the Rings will soon come to an end. On the 21st of November, the trilogy of one of the biggest franchises in movie history will be leaving the streaming giant. So, if you’re wanting to get on the Legolas train, this is your last week to watch it on Netflix Canada.

You just know that a franchise is widely-known as a success when it wins awards after awards, billions of dollars from theatre premieres, and millions of DVDs sold worldwide. The Fellowship of the Ring was released almost two decades ago yet people are still watching it for entertainment––that’s how much the franchise has changed the game.

However, this doesn’t stop the fact that The Lord of the Rings trilogy will still be leaving Netflix Canada on the 21st.

Since November 2018, The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers were made available to watch for Netflix Canada. A year later, The Return of the King premiered.

Though it’s been a fruitful licensing from Netflix Canada, the agreed-upon license has come to an end––meaning that the trilogy will be going to the platform they’re licensed next. However, that does mean that the franchise may find its way back into Netflix’s arms if it meant that the trilogy did better on the streaming giant than anywhere else.
