‘The Order’ Season 3: Is it Coming, or Will the Series End With Two Seasons?

Back when the sun was bright and birds sang of Netflix praises in the summer, the second season of The Order came through. Although, 2021 is but a few months away and there’s still no news about whether or not The Order will be coming back for its third season. Here’s what you need to know about the third season of the series, and how it will most likely be too optimistic.

The first season of the series arrived in the March of 2019. Back then, no one suspected of The Order‘s great potential to possibly become one of Netflix’s bread and butter. With that being said, the series has easily exceeded expectations and was renewed for a second season.

The fact of the matter is that this isn’t surprising at all. The fact that the series catered to teen viewers, a pretty good percent of Netflix’s viewer population, a supernatural drama such as The Order was deemed for success.

Normally, the future of Netflix’s headline series lies in the hands of the streaming giant after a few months after the series’ release. This is when the streaming platform takes into account certain factors such as viewership and the likes––so as to guide them to a decision whether or not to renew the series for a new season.

When it’s at that point or stage, the streaming giant has a couple of criteria to check off the list, this includes the total number of subscribers watching, the percent of subscribers that returned to watch the second season, the percent of subscribers that complete the second season, the percent of subscribers that failed to watch season 2 completely, and the total number of rewatches.

It’s a pretty hefty list, but it makes for a wise decision.

As the pandemic affects everything in the industry from schedules to renewals, it isn’t new that some series were thrown out the bus. Filming delays and other similar issues have led many shows to be canceled––especially for the first half of 2020. If The Order gets caught in the crossfire, it’s bad news all around.

Take for example The Society, a series that was originally scheduled to come back to the platform for a new season, has struggled to follow certain schedules that have inevitably led to their demise in the platform.

According to Chad Oakes during the virtual comic-con that took its place after the physical San Diego Comic-con, people would’ve heard something regarding the series by the end of the summer of 2020. Since it wasn’t like that, it isn’t looking good.

There has also been news that a number of props used in the show were going up for auction. The only good news here is that there weren’t really any big props in the auction––but normally, props are sold after shows are done. Well, we can’t really jump to conclusions just yet, can we?

As for the characters, if the series does get renewed for season 3, we can expect the following cast members to return:

Jake Manley as Jack Morton, Louriza Tronco as Gabrielle Dupres, Katherine Isabelle as Vera Stone, Adam DiMarco as Randall Carpio, Thomas Elms as Hamish Duke, Devery Jacobs as Lilith Bathory, Kayla Heller as Selena Durov.

To add to the list, even if Alyssa Drake is dead, Sarah Grey will still be returning for the third season.

As for the release date, the first and second seasons had 15 months in between. Whether or not the third season follows suit, expect that The Order will be coming around the months surrounding September 2021. As October becomes December, and 2020 becomes 2021, with no news to uphold anything regarding the third season––it might be optimistic to think that this will happen.
