‘The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgment’ Season 5: Netflix Release Date and What to Expect

Fortunately (or unfortunately, whatever floats your boat), the fourth season of The Seven Deadly Sins is now premiering on Netflix. As was planned, the fifth season titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgment (or it could also be The Judgement of Anger) is already airing in Japan with Netflix waiting patiently until later in 2021. Here’s everything you need to know about the fifth season of the Demon-killing anime, from its expected release date to what you can expect story-wise.

The Seven Deadly Sins franchise is a licensed Netflix Original anime series based on Nakaba Suzuki’s manga of the same name (Nanatsu no Taizai). With almost 40 million manga copies sold worldwide, no wonder the anime was well-received by the fans––not the mention swearing their loyalty to the story as well.

Originally, the series was animated by Sword Art Online and Fairy Tail‘s A-1 Pictures. However, The Seven Deadly Sins has found its home in Fate/stay night‘s Studio Deen.

Now, this isn’t really considered to be the “fifth season” of The Seven Deadly Sins. It’s just that Netflix bombarded the “second season” with a handful of OVAs.

When is The Seven Deadly Sins Season 5 coming to Netflix?

You’ve cashed in your luck and unfortunately, the fifth season of The Seven Deadly Sins won’t be seen on the streaming giant soon. Originally, it was supposed to premiere in Japan in October of 2020––but because of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic, the schedule has also bitten the dust.

According to the official Twitter account of Meliodas’ pub, the Boar Hat (@SDS_BoarHat), the release date of the fifth season would be on January of 2021.

Since the original release date was moved by months, there’s no doubt that the release date on Netflix would be moved as well. Expectedly, The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgment would end around late June or early July.

With all these in mind, it’s a possibility that we’re either waiting on a Netflix release date of late 2021 or early 2022––hopefully.

What to expect from The Seven Deadly Sins Season 5

The story’s coming to an end very soon and it still has a hefty amount to unpack. The fourth season of the anime (in Netflix’s chronological order) finished on chapter 267 of the manga. With 79 chapters left to unfold, there’s still a lot of stories to be told. I should’ve become a rapper or a poet, you know?

SPOILER ALERT! Don’t say we didn’t tell you! The two main stories we’re expecting to see revolve around two different places: Purgatory and Britannia.

Ban, the Fox Sin of Greed, is an immortal man who set out to find Meliodas in purgatory. Since Meliodas in the real world has already succumbed to the darkness, Ban is determined to find his lifelong friend’s emotions in purgatory in the hopes that he’ll find his way back to Britannia.

On the other hand, Britannia has seen the alliance of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Goddess Clan, Fairy Clan, Giant Clan, and the humans to take down the Demon Clan in a second holy war. However, time is running out as the body of Meliodas continues to absorb all of the commandments from his fellow Demon Clan members. Once that happens, he becomes the true Demon King of the Demon Clan.
