The Unforgivable: Netflix’s New Movie Starring Sandra Bullock Premieres on Dec. 10th

The Unforgivable comes to our screens on December 10th, featuring a host of well-known faces. Starring the ever-amazing Sandra Bullock in a role that is very different from the characters we have seen from her in the past. This movie is an emotional mystery drama about a woman, Ruth Slater, played by Bullock, who is released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence for killing a police officer. All she wants to do when she gets out is find her younger sister, Katherine, played by Irish actress Aisling Franciosi. Katherine was adopted after Ruth was sent to prison, and Ruth needs help from the family attorney, John Ingram, who is played by Daredevil’s Kingpin, Vincent D’Onofrio.

As Ruth attempts to start a new life while searching for her sister, she is met with hostility and harassment from people who aren’t ready to forgive her crime. At the beginning of the movie trailer, we see Ruth leaving prison, then getting a phone call from a mystery caller who simply states “You’re gonna pay for what you did” before Ruth hangs up the phone.

Over the course of the movie, we learn, through flashbacks, why Ruth committed the crime that she did. In the trailer, she says that she was protecting her sister, and if that is the case then it will be interesting to find out what happens if and when they are reunited.

The movie is based on a UK three-episode miniseries called Unforgiven which first aired in 2009. Both movie and miniseries are the same story with the same plot and characters.

The movie also stars Viola Davis, known for How to Get Away With Murder, as Liz Ingram, the attorney’s wife. You’ll remember Richard Thomas from playing John-boy Walton, and William Brown who plays Ruth’s police officer victim will ring a bell too – he starred in There’s Something About Mary, as Cameron Diaz’s brother Warren. Also featured are Netflix regulars Jon Bernthal as Ruth’s co-worker, and Rob Morgan as her probation officer.
