In reality, Geto was actually killed by Gojo. Yup, Gojo killed Geto when he found out that he was the one responsible for the dreadful events known as the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

What is possessing Geto Suguru
It seems that a sinister cursed Sorcerer called Kenjaku is the one inhabiting Geto’s body. Kenjaku possesses extremely high intellect, which he used to trap the strongest sorcerer, Gojo.
Besides taking control of a body, Kenjaku can also inherit the deceased’s abilities. This makes him as frightening as the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna.
Why Is Geto Suguru So Important In Jujutsu Kaisen?
Fundamentally speaking, an antagonist shapes the entire plot of a series, and Geto to that extent is written exceptionally well by Gege Akutami.
Geto’s ideology was soon to entail a detestable age of Curses, but Gojo put a stop to that, well Gojo thought he did.
