‘You’ Season 3: Release Date, Cast Updates, and more about the Psychological-Crime Drama

It’s back like it never left. The third season of Netflix’s hit series, You, will be coming back to the platform in 2021. With the help of various social media platforms, Flixrazzi has deduced some of the juiciest scoops regarding the brand new season as it presents three new characters and tons more stories to tell. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming third season!

At this point, You has been watched by every household where Netflix exists. With that in mind, there really is no surprise that the streaming giant has quickly renewed the psychological-crime drama series for a third season and blatantly showing their commitment to one of their biggest shows. Given that over 50 million people watched the drama, it was an easy decision for the streaming giant. Now, let’s talk story. Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), as you may know by now, is our main man for the series. During the second season, audiences watched Joe’s life go through many changes.

The first one being Joe’s move from New York to the City of Angels that is Los Angeles. Alongside that, he also opted to change his name to ‘Will,’ and a beautiful muse by the name of Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) to top it all off. As Joe tries to leave everything in the past––changing names, locations, and his murderous pursuits––his past life never left him with deaths surrounding him all the more.

The ending of the second season was as climactic as any season finale could ever be, and audiences are left there sitting and waiting for what’s about to happen next. The show was such a hit that even before season two was about to release, season three was already in development. Gladly, Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble are coming back as showrunners for the third season and to no surprise, the filming will still remain in the beautiful state of California.

Earlier this year on the 14th of January, 2020, the official renewal was posted by You’s official Twitter account:

What audiences have loved the most is that the writers of the series actually have their own Twitter account so as to update their beloved fans with anything You-related under the sun––might even be the best way to tease stories and plot holes as well.

*wink wink*

September 2020, though, was a big surprise for fans of the series as You has been reported to cast a brand new member named Dante who, reportedly, is described to be: “A veteran whose sight was damaged in combat, Dante works at the local library. A stepfather to his partner Ted’s two boys, Dante is sarcastic, world-weary, and unfailingly dependable. We are looking for an Actor who is Visually Impaired – this includes LOW VISION (degenerating vision), LEGALLY BLIND or Totally BLIND.” Alongside the fans who are heavily theorizing on what might happen in the third season, joining them is a fellow You fan in Badgley.

The lead actor has created his own theory for the third season wherein he believes that his character, Joe, will be seeking for the truth––the truth of his childhood and finally unearth why he has become the sociopathic man he is today. Well, we’re only scratching the surface here.

According to Netflix’s official @NetflixQueue account, the other two new members of the cast are NCIS’s Shalita Grant and Friday the 13th’s Travis VanWinkle.

Don’t expect too much on the release date, however, as Netflix and the series haven’t announced an official date yet. Because of the pandemic, the series was forced to film from the latter part of 2020 into 2021––making the expected release range from the third to the fourth quarter of next year hopefully.
