Amazon’s superhero series, Invincible, just filled out its already-studded voice cast with a handful more of A-list celebrities with the likes of Luke Cage‘s Mahershala Ali, Justice League‘s Ezra Miller, Frozen‘s Jonathan Groff, Bad Hair‘s Nicole Byer, Burn Notice‘s Jeffrey Donovan, The King’s Man‘s Djimon Hounsou, Good Omens‘ Jon Hamm, and SpongeBob Squarepants‘ very own, Clancy Brown.
Reportedly, their roles are as follows:
- Ali as Titan
- Miller as D.A. Sinclair
- Groff as Rick Sheridan
- Byer as Vanessa & Fiona
- Donovan as Machine Head
- Hounsou as Martian Emperor
- Hamm as Steve
- Brown as Damien Darkblood
The Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley comic book series of the same name, as mentioned before, already stars a handful of famous celebrities like The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun, Spider-Man‘s J.K. Simmons, Killing Eve‘s Sandra Oh, An American Pickle‘s Seth Rogen, Star Wars‘ Mark Hamill, Community‘s Gillian Jacobs, Black Monday‘s Andrew Rannells, Deadpool 2‘s Zazie Beetz, Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s Walton Goggins, Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Jason Mantzoukas, Good Girls‘ Mae Whitman, Silicon Valley‘s Chris Diamantopoulos, The Flash‘s Melise, The Simpsons‘ Kevin Michael Richardson, Avengers Assemble‘s Grey Griffin, Imaginary Order‘s Max Burkholder, and more names you could ever imagine.
Once you’ve read the names of that long list, the last couple of names are still ones you recognize––which is a pretty rare sight for voice actors at this point.
Steven Yeun, however, leads the cast as Mark Grayson or Invincible in the series. Grayson is the son of the world’s most powerful superhero in Omni-Man, played by J.K. Simmons. When Grayson’s powers come to fruition, he begins to recognize how much of his father’s legacy wasn’t as clean as he thinks it is.
“We’re definitely not holding back on the violence at all,” Kirkman said during New York Comic Con in October. “It is at times a little bit more gruesome.“
Invincible will be available on Prime Video in 2021.
