Eric Kripke is Worried of how ‘Fun and Breezy’ Writing The Boys Season 3 was

Eric Kripke, The Boys showrunner and executive producer, has been on the edge of his seat writing the third season. Reportedly, he told Consequence of Sound that the process has been “really fun and breezy,” and he’s been suspicious about it.

That worries me. It’s feeling enjoyable,” Kripke said.

I should be in intense, deep introspection for this. I know, obviously, that every season of a television show gets a little bit harder because all of your original best instincts to explore have been explored. So, you have to start going to some of the areas that it wouldn’t at first have occurred you to go to in those stories, and those are always a little trickier to make feel as big and as fascinating as the stuff you hit early on. So, it’s challenging,” he added.

At this point, we’re thinking that Kripke is too good for the job. He looks like the kind of guy who would love dark comedic superhero fiction, nonetheless.

At one point, Kripke was even doubtful of how he’s already approved cuts for VFX shots as it felt like it was a “defeat” to him. The showrunner felt as if he was either pushed against the wall by time or by money and the chances of the series getting better to seem slimmer.

For him, it’s better to say ‘Oh, I’ve got a whole bunch of notes. Go make it better, dude.’ than ‘It’s over, and I’m happy.’ He wishes that there’s more time to work on the project.

Production of the third season of The Boys is slated to begin as soon as 2021 hits. The pandemic is still here and with all that into consideration, Amazon is still yet to fix a premiere window––let alone a premiere date.
