The CW’s ‘Black Lightning’ Season 4 Will Premier on Netflix This June

On The CW, Black Lightning has returned for its fourth and, as it turns out, final season. Netflix will broadcast the fourth season of Black Lightning in some countries in June 2021, as detailed in the Netflix release calendar for Black Lightning Season 4.

When Will ‘Black Lightning’ be on Netflix?

As part of the former output arrangement Netflix had with The CW, Black Lightning is still available in the United States.   If the show gets released on Netflix in the United States during this eight-day window, it will premiere on June 1st, 2021, but no confirmation has been given.

Outside of the United States, the show is available as a Netflix Original in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. Although some of the earlier seasons were released on a weekly basis on Netflix in other countries, this stopped with season 3. Instead, the series will premiere on Netflix in a similar manner to that of the United States, though not on the same date.

So far, Netflix Canada is the only area that has been confirmed to receive Black Lightning Season 4 on June 29th, 2021.

‘Black Lightning’ Recap

Black Lightning, created by Salim Akil, is one of the newer squads in the Arrowverse, originally set to air on Fox before switching to The CW. Outside of the United States, it’s one of the few DC titles from The CW to be classified as a Netflix Original series.

It was a show about family, optimism, and the Black community. When the CW series ended on Monday, those same themes resurfaced as the Pierces regained their superpowers and defeated the villains. Jeff/Black Lightning had to mentally confront his father’s murder as well as the murder he committed as a child, even though the latter was for the greater good, before he could dig his way out of the tomb Tobias put him in, buried alive.

Jefferson Pierce, a crime-fighting high school headmaster who reverts to his past life as Black Lightning, is played by Cress Williams. As previously stated, Season 4 will be the final season of Black Lightning, with the spin-off Painkiller, which was originally intended, being canceled. Season 4 was likewise significantly shorter than seasons 2 and 3, reverting to a 13-episode series. Season 4 was likewise postponed because to the pandemic’s filming limitations. It premiered on February 8th, 2021, and ended just a few weeks ago on May 24th, 2021.
