Netflix Makes Documentary About Britney Spears and Here’s What You Should Know

Following up on Hulu’s bombshell documentary, Netflix is working on a documentary about Britney Spears, which will be framed in the same way as the #FreeBritney movement was framed. Yes, there will be a Britney Spears Netflix documentary.

Britney Spears is no stranger to her life being documented for public consumption, whether she wants it or not. Britney had just sat down for MTV’s tell-all Britney: For the Record in 2008, prior to the New York Times documentary exposing the iconic pop star’s harsh and sexist treatment from the public, as well as her well publicized conservatorship. As more information about Britney Spears becomes available to the public, it’s crucial to remember not to repeat the public’s past mistakes and to respect Britney’s privacy.

All About This New Britney Documentary

There are currently no Britney Spears documentaries available on Netflix. Hulu has a documentary about Britney Spears called Framing Britney Spears, and Netflix has yet to produce its own. When Netflix’s new documentary is released, it will be available exclusively on the streaming service.

As previously indicated, Framing Britney Spears looked into the pop star’s history of mistreatment by the media, the public, and the press, as well as the circumstances that led to her father’s 13-year conservatorship over her life. It’s unknown how much of what was addressed in Framing Britney Spears will be featured in the new film, or if true-crime filmmaker Erin Lee Carr will focus on a specific aspect of the issue that sparked the #FreeBritney movement. At the very least, we hope Britney’s desires be honored in the film.

The premiere date for the upcoming Netflix documentary about Britney Spears is currently unknown. Bloomberg News first reported on the documentary in February 2021, following the cultural moment created by Hulu’s New York Times-produced documentary Framing Britney Spears. The Netflix documentary has not yet been completed as of this writing in June 2021, and it does not appear to be arriving much sooner than the end of the year or sometime in 2022.

What do you hope to see in the Netflix documentary coming out soon?
