Netflix absolutely loves its video game franchises. A testament to that is how the platform’s depicting Assassin’s Creed in multiple projects under their name. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming projects between one of the biggest video game franchises and the streaming giant.
What is Assassin’s Creed on Netflix all about?
There’s a pretty small chance that you don’t know about the game––or at least have heard of it in the past. Boasting 11 games, a handful of books, and even one cinematic blockbuster, Assassin’s Creed is up there when anyone talks about pop culture in the video game realm.

Just last year, in October of 2020, Netflix officially announced their collaboration with Ubisoft (the video game publisher) for future projects regarding the franchise. Ubisoft has been home to many great games besides Assassin’s Creed. The list includes Watch Dogs, the Far Cry franchise, and Rainbow Six Siege. However, the announcement wasn’t as detailed as we’d like it to be––but it’s understandable. It’s thrilling that way, in any case.
Who are attached to the Assassin’s Creed projects?
Though there are plenty of projects in line, there are but two important names attached to various projects. Thus far, Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik are set to serve as executive producers.
Jason Altman, on one hand, serves as the SVP, Head of Film and Television at Ubisoft. However, he’s mostly been involved with video games for almost all of his career. In 2017, he got the call to head the team and immediately served as a producer for Mythic Quest and Werewolves Within.
Danielle Kreinik, on the other hand, has also had a fruitful career. During her time with Thunderbird Entertainment, she developed Some Assembly Required for Netflix and Endgame for Hulu. In the same year as Altman, she works as Ubisoft’s Head of Television Development.
Among the various projects to be created, one is undoubtedly an animated series. The studio working on that will be Ubisoft’s internal studio which worked on Raving Rabbids and is working on the Far Cry animated series announced back in 2019 and Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe.
In an interview with Eurogamer, it’s been said that the animation team has been hard at work focusing on the other projects. It’s not that future projects aren’t important, but it’s more on finishing what they have in their hands first.
With that out of the way, we know that they will be working on the project as soon as they finish animating the Far Cry series. Even so, there are absolutely no updates on when or what that series is about––so it will be a long wait before we see any more news of that Assassin’s Creed animated series.
