Nicole Kidman wowed us on Big Little Lies and Bombshell, and now it appears that she’s starring in another suspenseful drama that somehow avoided our attention. This thriller has recently moved into Netflix’s top ten most-watched movies list!

The Interpreter Plot and What We Have Missed!

Kidman stars as Silvia Broome, a language interpreter at the United Nations in New York City, in Kidman’s 2005 film The Interpreter, which is now available on Netflix. Broome claims to have overheard an assassination plot in the film, but many around her begin to doubt her credibility. Meanwhile, she sets in motion a chain of perilous events that may result in the deaths of certain people. Sean Penn, who plays a Secret Service agent named Tobin Keller, keeps an eye on Broome throughout the film. “Of all the people I’ve looked into since this thing started, the one with the worst history is you,” Keller says to Broome in the clip.

The movie was shot on location in and around the United Nations, including the General Assembly Room; it is the first film to be granted such access. I bring up the setting because it lends an air of genuineness to everything that occurs. A security detail sweeps the building in a scenario that feels like it belongs in a documentary.

The film also includes Catherine Keener (The 40-Year-Old Virgin), Jesper Christensen (Casino Royale), Yvan Attal (Rush Hour 3), Earl Cameron (Thunderball), Curtiss Cook (House of Cards), George Harris (Black Hawk Down), and Michael Wright, in addition to A-list performers Kidman and Penn (Oz). Sydney Pollock, who received an Academy Award for Best Director for his work on Out of Africa, directed The Interpreter. Charles Randolph (The Big Short), Scott Frank (Logan), and Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List) collaborated on the screenplay.

Are you a fan of thriller films? If yes, then you definitely should be adding this to your list of must-see movies!
