As you wait for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman to premiere in March, check out HBO Max’s latest addition, Injustice. The animated movie debuted in October last year, courtesy of DC and Warner Bros. Animation and is now finally on HBO Max’s catalogue.

Injustice Storyline
Injustice’s storyline is derived from the infamous Injustice: Gods Among Us video game produced by NetherRealm Studios and the DC graphic book on the video game. The animated film narrates the tale of Superman’s madness stimulated by the death of his pregnant wife, Lois Lane.
Lois’ death was planned by Joker, who tricked Superman into killing her and detonating a nuclear weapon that consumes Metropolis. The superhero losses his mind and decides to take over Earth, causing Batman to recruit a gang of like-minded superheroes to try to stop him.
Voice Casts
Injustice is inspired by an incredible voice cast featuring Justin Hartley as Superman, Laura Bailey as Lois Lane, Kevin Pollak as the Joker, Anson Mount as Batman, Anika Noni Rose as Cat Woman, Janet Verney as Wonder Woman, Zach Callison as Damian Wayne and Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn.
Other voice casts, including members of Batman’s team, are Brian T. Delaney as Green Lantern, Oliver Hudson as Plastic Man, Vuri Lowenthal as Mirror Master, Brandon Hill as Cyborg, Edwin Hodge as Killer Croc, Andrew Morgado as Mirror Master Soldier, Derek Phillips as Nightwing, Reid Scott as Green Arrow, Fred Tatasciore as Captain Atom and Faran Tahir as Ra’s al Ghul.
Acclaims and Reviews
After its release on October 19 2021, the adult-animated film received mixed reviews, with 60% Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 6.3/10 on IMDb. Honestly I was shocked to find out that an epic movie packed with superheroes and a promising battle would only air for 1 hour 18 minutes.
And it turns out that I’m not the only one who thought so, as IMDb’s top reviewer commented, “I liked the movie… but everything felt rushin and pushy… this should have been a 3 hours movie… why wasting such good material like this?”
Let’s hope DC will have a chance to redeem itself in the much-anticipated Batman film.
