‘Alice in Borderland’: Netflix’s Newest Japanese Sci-Fi Thriller is Out Now

The trailer has given us just enough to know what Alice in Borderland really is about. “Think,” the first trailer ends with, alongside one of the characters paving his way out of a predicament in what seems to be a survival game of sort. Desperately, he tries to get out of it as quickly as possible as his life depends on it.

Survival, another dimension, a game master, fire, tigers, and a handful more randomly epic things are awaiting the viewers in the new Netflix Original series that’s supposedly available today, the 10th of December, 2020.

If you’ve been looking for a fantasy/sci-fi thriller, then looks like the streaming giant has it for you. The trailers alone speak volumes on how much time and effort the cast and crew put into this project––with amazing mood-setting color gradings, special effects, stories, etc.

According to Netflix, Alice in Borderland is about:

An aimless gamer and his two friends find themselves in a parallel Tokyo, where they’re forced to compete in a series of sadistic games to survive.

Are they destined to survive and come back to good ol’ regular Tokyo?

Alice in Borderland is based on Haro Aso’s Japanese manga series of the same name.

The second trailer for the Japanese series further explains how the game works. Every card suit has its own type of game, for instance, clubs are team battles, diamonds are a battle of wits, hearts are a game of betrayal, and spades are a test of strength. The value of each card, in this case, represents how difficult the round will be.

An interesting concept for an interesting eight-episode J-Drama. The Eastern side of the world has offered a tremendous amount of content you’ve watched, why stop now?
