Netflix’s ‘Space Force’ Season 2: Back in Production, Cast, and What We Know So Far

Hold your horses––or spaceships, rather––for the second season of Space Force as they churn their comedic return to Netflix. How do we know? Well, Ben Schwartz is always the right answer, am I right? Through his post on Twitter and Instagram, we see the crew back together, set to film the comedy that tickles the funny bones of the newest department that protects space. Who wouldn’t want to see Steve Carrell, anyway? He’s the best TV boss there is, and he’s the leading man we all wanted back on the streaming giant. Here’s everything you need to know about the second season!

What is Space Force all about?

Debuted back in May of 2020, it has already been reported that Season 2 would start on production in Vancouver in 2021. The series is inspired by President Trump’s proposal for a sixth branch of the military that revolves around Mark R. Naird, a decorated pilot and a four-star general––and also Steve Carrell. Having dreamt of running the Air Force (not the shoes), he captains the Space Force instead.

Who are attached to Space Force Season 2?

Schwartz has been a big help, but I’m afraid that his picture doesn’t give us much news about the series besides the fact that the cast is together to wreak comedic havoc once again. However, seeing them well and united is enough reason to stay around. Last year, when the pandemic was really at its peak, the Space Force cast was the series that brought smiles to Netflix subscribers.

The series stars:

  • Steve Carrell as General Mark R. Naird
  • Ben Schwartz as F. Tony Scarapiducci
  • Diana Silvers as Erin Naird
  • John Malkovich as Dr. Adrian Mallory
  • Tawny Newsome as Captain Angela Ali
  • Lisa Kudrow as Maggie Naird
  • Jimmy O. Yang as Dr. Chan Kaifang

In the picture Schwartz shared, we see himself, Silvers, Yang, Don Lake, and Newsome posing during what seems to be a cold, sunset-filled day. The caption was as Schwartz as Schwartz can be: “🚀Season 2🚀” and tagged the official Instagram account of Space Force on the post.

How was Space Force received by fans?

Well, all we know is that people love Steve Carrell, Michael Scott, and General Mark R. Naird. That’s the only right conclusion we can take from this. Though Carrell isn’t particularly carrying the show, it seems as though his comedic presence (and just presence in general, really) is what the fans have been looking for. With his famous stint as Michael Scott in The Office, the wonderful office boss has now turned into an ungrateful General. Either way, fans have said that they’re excited about more explorations on the characters––and there’s no better time to do that than the second season.

You never know what you’re going to get with Space Force––just how we like it.
