Ming-Na Wen Reprise Her Role as Fennec Shand in Clone Wars Spin-off The Bad Batch

Everyone’s favourite band of misfit clone troopers will be back on Disney+ screens in 2021.

Coming fresh off the back of the season finale of critically acclaimed Star Wars animation The Clone Wars, the new series will carry over a lot of the production staff who made the original show so popular.

The Bad Batch, originally known as Clone Force 99, are a squad of five soldiers born on the clone facilities of Kamino. Each member has a ‘desirable’ genetic mutation that sets them apart from the rest of the identical clone army and gives them each their own unique edge on the battlefield.

Executive produced by long time Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni – the man largely responsible for the recent live-action debut of previously animated character Ahsoka Tano – the series will follow the clone soldiers in a post-Order 66 galaxy.

The first trailer for the new series, released earlier this week, shows a hell of a lot of action and some eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted Fennec Shand, the sharp-shooting bounty hunter who is making the leap in the opposite direction of Tano – from the live action of the Mandalorian into the animated world.

Ming-Na Wen, who plays Shand in The Mandalorian has recently confirmed she will be lending her voice acting skills to the character.

‘Do you know how long I’ve had to keep silent about Fennec coming back?. If you wanted to keep it a secret you shouldn’t have put me in the trailer!’

With the Clone Wars running into its seventh series earlier this year and growing its own distinct fanbase, expectations for the new spin-off are already running high.

This should be a sci-fi film but it's actually my life
