‘Darwin’s Game’: Another anime series set to take over on Netflix this August

More licensed anime is coming to Netflix in August 2021, with Darwin’s Game planned to premiere on August 1st in the United States (other areas to be announced). The anime series debuted in Japan in early 2020 and is based on the FLIPFLOPs manga series, which has 23 volumes in total, the most recent of which was released on May 7th, 2021. Nexus, a relatively new studio founded in 2012 and known for Comic Girls, Granbelm, and Chivalry of a Failed Knight, is animating the series.

Here’s what you need to know about the anime series

The plot centers on an online video game called “The Darwin Project,” in which players must battle or starve for their life while combating both environmental forces and player opponents (the latter being optional). The International Survival Union, a governing organization fashioned after a post-apocalyptic government, sends out 12 players to represent them in this game. To aid them in their survival, they are given a range of weapons and technologies.

The story opens with this crew in the arctic, where they have set up camp for the game’s launch. A storm smashes their arctic basecamp just before launch day, but they go on regardless, despite the fact that some members of the original 12-person team roster, including the squad’s commander, are missing. When an avalanche cuts through their encampment, the surviving 11 players are shut off from each other. They then awaken in various locations across Arctica, where they must design individual or group survival techniques in order to survive.

The first episode of Netflix’s new series will air on August 1st! It was revealed at the show’s world premiere red carpet event, which will be available exclusively on Netflix worldwide and has already received positive feedback for its intriguing plotline.

According to the reviews we’ve received from Japanese fans, the manga is unique and highly addictive. As a result, every anime fan should see it at least once!
