Netflix has released a trailer for John David Washington’s new movie ‘Beckett’

Due to its fast-paced action and dramatic plot, Netflix’s next thriller is sure to attract a large audience. The movie is Beckett, which stars John David Washington, who is best known for his appearances in Tenet and BlacKkKlansman, about a man whose love holiday in Greece suddenly goes horribly wrong. Following his previous performances that wowed audiences, Washington now has his pick of outstanding projects to work on, including the Gareth Edwards-directed science fiction feature True Love and the star-studded untitled David O. Russell film (Slash Film, Deadline).

Beckett, directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino and produced by Luca Guadagnino, was originally titled Born to Be Murdered before Netflix bought it in October 2020 and renamed it. Many people seem to believe in the impending action thriller, as it has been chosen as the opening picture for the Locarno Film Festival in Locarno, Switzerland, which begins on August 4, 2021 and will be the film’s world debut.

Details About ‘Beckett’: Plot, Release Date, and Cast

Beckett begins as a sweet story about a couple, Beckett and April, who are on a romantic trip through Greece’s countryside, enjoying themselves as if they don’t have a concern in the world. Unfortunately, their wonderful time together is cut short when they are involved in a tragic car accident. Beckett “stumbles onto a kidnapping,” which “makes him the subject of a nationwide search,” according to Washington in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. When Beckett tries to notify the cops about what he saw, they insist that no one was ever in there and that he must be lying. Beckett, on the other hand, is aware of what he witnessed and is determined to relay the information to the embassy in Athens and, perhaps, get out of Greece alive. Beckett sustains numerous injuries as he races across the Grecian countryside, jumping off cliffs, fighting on a train, and dashing past throngs of protestors, among other things, all the way to Athens.

Thankfully, the wait for Beckett on the streaming platform will not be too long. The film will stream on Netflix on August 13, 2021, just over a week after its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in early August.
