After a couple of articles, the Charlie Brooker-created mockumentary about 2020 has finally announced a title.
In a span of 12 months, 2020 has seen elections of world leaders, crashing markets, environmental crises, civil rights protests, the death of millions of people, and a global pandemic. Losing Kobe Bryant and Chadwick Boseman was enough for millions of people to cry, what more those who mourn the deaths of their family and friends.
Nobody gets through 2020 unscathed––that’s why we’re getting a Black Mirror-esque special to somehow lift what seemed to be the hardest year of our lives.
Last week, Charlie Brooker, creator of the sci-fi anthology series, Black Mirror, announced his newest dystopian masterpiece in Death to 2020.

Death to 2020 will premiere on the streaming giant in the near future. So far, that’s the only thing there is to know––except for the fact that Hugh Grant will be starring in the mockumentary, saying:
“I’m doing a thing tomorrow, actually. Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”
A change of scene for who we know as the emotional man from the movies we’ve seen, no? Seeing Grant in a sci-fi, much more a dystopian, project feels so weird––weird enough for a Black Mirror episode.
However, since we’re already talking about it, Death to 2020 is no Black Mirror episode (unfortunately). Though it seems as if it’s so on-target, we can only dream of another season of the sci0fi anthology series. Don’t worry though; it’s still created by Charlie Brooker anyway. Plus it’s about 2020 so what could go wrong?
