Netflix’s Upcoming Original, ‘Fatherhood’ Shows The Challenges Faced by a Minnesota Family

Kevin Hart is said to star in Fatherhood, a film based on Matthew Logelin’s inspirational memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love. On Father’s Day, June 18, 2021, the film will be released on the streaming platform.

Hart will play Matt, the main character, a man who will do everything in his ability to be the father his daughter deserves, no matter what obstacles he faces along the road. Matt is a dad out of his depth who is determined to rise to the situation, whether it’s putting his infant baby to sleep or dealing with a family demanding he return home. Melody Hurd, who recently starred in Amazon’s divisive original series Them, will play Maddy Hart, Hart’s daughter.

A Glimpse on ‘Fatherhood’

The story is about love, death, and what happens afterwards.

Matt saw it firsthand and documented it in a blog, then a book called Two Kisses for Maddy, which is now made into a film. Matt thought the casting was ideal since it demonstrated the universality of the subject. Every single one of us experiences love, death, and everything in between.

Matt and Liz experienced these in March of 2008, where birth and death took up just over one calendar day. Liz gave birth to Maddy one day and died 27 hours later from pulmonary embolism. It happened when she got out of her hospital bed to stroll over to Maddy’s intensive care unit, where she had never held her before. Maddy’s mother hasn’t been there in her life, but she is omnipresent in images and stories, as well as in her family. Matt and Maddy’s life are shaped by Liz’s parents and sister. A fear Matt felt when Maddy was initially placed in his arms was a repeating subject in Matt’s blog, the book, and the movie. As he brought her into fatherhood, he carried a worry.

The trailer promises a bright, heartwarming, and comical view on loss, family, and, in especially, a father’s beautiful bond with his daughter. Check it out below!
