Coming Soon to Netflix: World War II Biopic Film ‘My Best Friend Anne Frank’

The Netflix original film, My Best Friend Anne Frank, will debut on Netflix on Tuesday, February 1 2022.

The movie has been around for some months now, making a theatrical release in the Netherlands in September last year. The 1 hour 43 minutes film has so far received a 6.6/10 rating on IMDb, where 83% of the audience liked it.

What to Expect

My Best Friend Anne Frank is directed by Ben Sombogaart, known for his Oscar nomination for the drama romance film Twin Sisters (2002).

This movie is based on the biography of Anne Frank written by Alison Leslie Gold. The book is called Anne Frank: Reflections of a Childhood Friend. It explores the friendship between Anne Frank and Hannah Goslar, which is exactly what the movie is about.

The duo were best BFFs just about the time when World War II broke out in Europe. Three years after Frank’s family runs away from the war, the best friends meet again at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Hannah risks her life in an attempt to help her weak friend.

My Best Friend Anne Frank marks the first biopic movie made out of the Netherlands based on Anne Frank’s life.
