Paramount+ Announces Production Start for Medical Drama TV Series ‘SkyMed’ Season 2

Something new must be happening at Paramount+ as the month begins. The streaming platform has, alongside its sister network, CBS, and Piazza Entertainment announced the commencement of the production of SkyMed, a Julie Puckrin creation.

The news was posted on Paramount Plus’ main Twitter page, alongside a ‘New Season Coming Soon‘ poster and a caption, “Season two is ready to take off. Its production has begun in Canada.” Within 15 hours, the post had won 17.6K views, indicating that the viewers were super excited about the upcoming instalments.

SkyMed was first announced in early 2021, beginning its filming in August 2021 to January 2022. The first season landed on Paramount+ in July 2022, attracting 6.3/10 stars on IMDb and an 88% average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

What’s the Story Behind SkyMed?

Julie Puckrin, the series creator, drew her story from her sister and brother-in-law, who worked as a nurse and pilot in Northern Canada, respectively, in air ambulances.

The story is told through tribulations, heartbreaks, and triumphs that nurses and pilot face in such a field.

Who are the Makers of SkyMed?

Puckrin partnered with CBS Studios, Eagle Vision, and Piazza Entertainment to produce SkyMed. She also serves as the show’s chief producer alongside Steven A. Adelson, Ron Murphy, Shamim Sarif, and Madison Thomas as the leading directors.

Who is Likely to Return in SkyMed Season Two?

While Paramount+ and CBS haven’t confirmed the cast for SkyMed season two, Natasha Calis and Aason Nadjiwon are expected to reprise their roles as nurse Hayley Roberts and pilot Cpt. Austen Bodie.

Others include Kheon Clarke (nurse Tristan), Mercedes Morris (officer Lexi), Thomas Elms (pilot Cpt. Nowak), Praneet Akilla (officer Chopper), and Morgan Holmstrom (nurse Crystal).

When Should Fans Expect to Watch SkyMed Season Two?

The release date of SkyMed season two is yet to be announced. However, fans can anticipate it late this year or in early 2024.

In the meantime, SkyMed’s verified Twitter account welcomes viewers to vote at the Audience Choice Awards 2023, where the series has been nominated. The second round of voting opens on Monday, March 6th 2023.
