As expected, the fourth season of Stranger Things swept upon its Netflix debut. A success demonstrated by the data from its first week with 286.79 million hours viewed globally, according to the streaming platform. In Spain, the new installment of the popular series also performed very well. However, a Spanish title that surpassed it in the top 10 emerged out of nowhere. We are talking about Intimacy , one of the best Netflix original productions in Spain.
After the success of Entrevías, Money Heist or Welcome to Eden, now it’s time for another addictive and vindicative Spanish series. To everyone’s surprise, the fiction starring Itziar Ituño, Patricia López Arnaiz, Verónica Echegui and Ana Wagener slipped into the second most viewed spot on Netflix in our country. Behind the sixth season of Peaky Blinders and, surprisingly, ahead of the fourth season of Stranger Things.
But there’s more. Intimacy premiered on June 10 and in just two days it achieved 15.9 million viewing hours. Thus, the series created by Verónica Fernández and Laura Sarmiento was positioned in fourth place in Netflix’s Top 10 Non-English Language Series behind Madre perfecta, High-Flyers and Entrevías – which continues to top the list for one week-.
What ‘Intimacy ‘ is About
The addictive series begins with the leak of a sex tape of a politician with a promising future, Malen Zubiri (Ituño). The controversy completely damages her public image and affects her family life, but the protagonist will arm herself with courage and strength to move forward. Her story intertwines with that of Ane (Echegui), a young woman who committed suicide due to a similar incident, and whose sister Begoña (López Arnaiz) seeks justice. Both events will be investigated by Alicia (Wagener), an inspector who is an expert in these types of cases.
Intimacy is one of those series that shakes up social morality, that is capable of raising awareness and that calls for sorority. A perfect blend of drama and thriller for suspense lovers. It also has an exquisite script accompanied by 10/10 performances where Ituño stands out, piercing the screen in every shot.
