The Witcher Season 2 is Set to be Released on December 17th

It began as a short story written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski and published in a Polish magazine in 1986. The first novel, Blood of Elves, was published in 1994, and was followed over the years by more novels. These were developed into video games by CD Projekt Red, the first being The Witcher, released in 2007. There were two more after that, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, in 2011, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, in 2015.

The first season of The Witcher on Netflix was eagerly anticipated therefore, having already established a huge fan base around the world, and it did not disappoint. The fantasy series stars the perfectly cast Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, the witcher who travels the country slaying monsters. In season 1 we first meet Geralt in a swamp, battling a kikimora, and later on in the episode we get an idea of his moral code when he refuses to pick sides between a mage and a princess.

We also meet Ciri, and her parents and grandmother, in season 1, and learn how she is connected to Geralt, and we meet Yennefer, learning how she becomes a soceress and how she and Geralt are connected.

Accompanying Geralt through a lot of season 1 is Jaskier, a bard, and a ladies man, who wants to learn of Geralt’s adventures so that he can sing songs about him, ‘Toss a Coin to Your Witcher’ being a much loved song from the series.

If you haven’t seen the first season yet, now is the time to binge it, as season 2 is set to be released on December 17th, and judging by the trailers and the hype, it’s going to be even bigger and better than the first!
