Filming on ‘That 90s Show’ is Due to Begin in Early 2022

That 70s Show was a huge hit in the late 90s and early 00s. It featured a group of teens as they hung out in Point Place, Wisconsin in the 70s, mostly in the basement of Red and Kitty Forman, with their son Eric. It focused on the Forman family as well as the group of teenagers that spent so much time in their home.

Red and Kitty Forman, played by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, are coming back to our screens in a continuation of That 70s Show, exclusive to Netflix. The new comedy series from Carsey-Werner is in development now and is expected to go into production early next year. The show is set in 1995 when Red and Kitty’s granddaughter comes to visit her grandparents in Wisconsin for the summer. We see her making some friends in the area – we really hope one of them is a relative of Kelso!

The creators of That 70s Show, Bonnie and Terry Turner will be showrunners for the new series, so we have high hopes that it will be every bit as good as the original. We hope to see the original That 70s Show returning to Netflix in the lead up to the new show’s release too, now that they have rekindled a relationship with Carsey-Werner. And do we dare to hope that some of the iconic 80s and 90s sitcoms from the Carsey-Werner library – we’re talking A Different World, Rosanne – might start playing on the streaming service as well?
